5. Read text B. What ancient city does the text describe?

                  (B)
The ancient city which is located near the town of Selçuk in the west of Türkiye is one of
the most popular tourist attractions of the country. It was founded as a seaport in the 10th
century BC, and then it became a very important trade center.
The Ancient City of Ephesus is of great historical value with lots of well-preserved
structures. Here are some of them in chronological order. The Temple of Artemis, which
was built in the 6th century BC, was among the first temples on earth. It is considered one
of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. The Great Theater was established in the
3rd century BC. Then it was enlarged during the Roman period. It used to be the largest
amphitheater in Anatolia in ancient times with a seating capacity of over 24,000.

The Terrace Houses are situated on the hill opposite the Temple of Hadrian. They are
also called “the houses of the rich”. The oldest building dates back to the 1st century BC.
People continued to live there until the 7th century AD. Some of the houses have been
restored in recent years and they can be visited today. The Temple of Hadrian was built at
the beginning of the 2nd century AD and was dedicated to Emperor Hadrian. It is one of the
most beautiful buildings in the historic site. The Library of Celsus, which was constructed in
117 AD, was the third richest library in ancient times. It still looks impressive, so it attracts
lots of attention. The Ancient City of Ephesus was included in the UNESCO World Heritage
List in 2015 because it was one of the greatest cities of ancient times.
