7 Read the news story and put the events into the correct order. Below is the paraphrased form of the first part of the news story by a journalist for a magazine.
8 Work in groups. Compare and study the two forms of the story. Discuss the changes in terms of
sentence structure, synonyms, and phrases.

Munira Abdulla of the United Arab Emirates was having an ordinary
day. Her brother-in-law was driving and they were headed for school
to collect Munira's son. Munira and Omar, then only four, were seated
at the back of the car. Suddenly, Munira hugged Omar tightly as she
realized that they were about to crash into a bus.
Unfortunately, a terrible accident took place. Omar got over it with
almost no problems while Munira was seriously injured. Ms. Abdulla
was hospitalized, and then taken to London. Her state was declared as
vegetative state. She couldn't react to anything or move but was able to
sense pain. Then, she was taken back to Al Ain of the UAE and moved to
various medical facilities. She survived thanks to tube feeding.

In 2017, thanks to a grant by a government body of Abu Dhabi, she was
transferred to Germany, where she underwent a number of surgeries
and was given medication to improve her state. One day, Omar heard
her making strange sounds and told it to doctors. According to doctors,
everything was normal. 3 days later, Omar woke up to the sound of
someone calling his name and verses from the Quran. Omar was flying
with joy. It was the moment of his dreams. Ever since that day, Munira
has been going through a rapid recovery. She can now join family life
and still works hard to get healthier.
